Shannon Feehan
- Secretary & Senior Certified Therapeutic Trainer
Shannon was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. At the age of eight, Shannon began riding and showing locally in the hunter and equitation divisions. She spent her junior years riding, working and competing with one of the top equestrian trainers, Jennie Jarnstrom. Upon graduation from high school, she attended a local nursing school and got her certification in Nursing Assistant. After a few years of working at nursing homes, she realized her true passion was with horses and working with Children. While in nursing school, Shannon met her mentor, Andrew Anderson. Andrew and Shannon share a passion for serving disabled children and their love of horses. Under Andrew’s guidance, Shannon learned his ways of communicating with and rehabilitating rescue horses and horses in need of training. Shannon has been trained and certified as a Senior Equine Therapy Riding Instructor from the SpiritHorse Therapeutic Riding Center at their Texas based headquarters. She finds her work with her students to be fun and rewarding and she enthusiastically leads our therapeutic riding team!

Morgan Tucker
Morgan grew up in the animal health industry, initially as a competitor in Hunters, Jumpers, and Three Day Eventing. Her participation at that level landed her in the Young Riders Association, where she competed at a national level and was 4th in her division. She continues to train with one of the top Eventing/ Jumper trainers. Morgan has countless wins and awards throughout her 23 years of riding. As a Young Rider applying to college, Morgan was accepted to Auburn University and positioned on their NCAA Equestrian Team. After college, she attended The American School Equine Dentistry where she became an expert in equine dentistry. With eight years of experience and many contacts from the industry, horse rescue and consulting also became part of her portfolio. Active in various charitable organizations and rescue teams, she maintains a strong network in the Orlando-area veterinary industry.

Duke
is a 28 year old retired show jumping horse and is a perfect horse for kids to learn ground training with. He always greets people as they walk into the farm, straining as hard as he can to beg for treats…his favorite treat is Cheerios!

Our Resident Staff Therapists

Twister
3, was rescued with several other horses. He was a stallion when he came to us and had not been handled at all. I think he knew he was in good hands and has been a sweetheart since the day he came to us. He is currently in training to become a lesson horse for SHBTF.

Bandit
30, was rescued by Andrew when his owner wanted to put him down thinking there was no use for Bandit. He was malnourished when he came to SHBTF and we’ve since nursed him back to health. He got his name because he really is a Bandit! He roams the farm as a "mascot" and if any food is left around, Bandit is sure to find it! He also LOVES showers. If a team member is near the wash rack, Bandit will RUN over and not stop bothering until we have showered him off.

Snowy
20, is also a rescue. When she arrived at SHBTH, she was looking completely depleted of life and ready to give up. Snowy was dropping so much food when she ate that she could never get enough nourishment. Our dentist treated 2 abscessed teeth that had cut a whole into her cheeks and was making it difficult for her to eat without extreme pain. After our dentist treated her, she was finally able to eat enough food to gain weight! Her ground manners are wonderful as a therapy horse at SHBTF.

Willow
13, was starved down horribly only receiving a cup of food a day. She was covered in mud and scabs when she arrived and was clearly neglected to the fullest. Willow is a mammoth mule and despite her size is wonderful with the children and can’t get enough attention. We always laugh and say that she sings opera when it’s feeding time. You can hear her clear across the farm letting you know that it’s time to eat.

Sylvia
1 year old, was rescued after her mother passed away. We bottle fed her until she could eat on her own. Sylvia is extremely playful and loves to play "tag" in her pasture. We hope that we can utilize her in our therapy program.
